september? huh?

I always end up doing this, every year, all of a sudden, I look at the calendar, and there it is. September 1st.

WHAT the WHAT?

SEPTEMBER???

I'm still waiting for watermelons to ripen! The sunflowers just started blooming! I've got pickles to make! And tomato sauce to can! And goodness, more pickling to do!

And then, now on top of it, that other layer.

SCHOOL IS STARTING.

And, oh, I am the teacher!!

And we are excited. And I have planned, extensively.

And I tape up the new school year calendar, that I have thought through all summer. And I pick the last of the cucumbers. And we lay out our greenhouse floorprint.

And we do it, you know? That is all you can do.
